History of the university's founding

University of Al Fashir is a public university locates in Al Fashir town, Darfur, Western Sudan. Its establishment backdates to November 1975, when the presidential Decree No (8) was issued to declare the University of Darfur. But the dream was not achieved until 1990, when a new republican decree No (142) has been declared the establishment of  University in Darfur under the name of “ElFaten Min September“, which was officially opened in February 1991 in Al Fashir city, the capital of Darfur region. In 1993, the region was divided into three States and as a result the faculties that located in each State became a nucleus of separate Universities. Thus; the remaining faculties of the University of ElFateh Min September became the base of the University of Al Fashir in Al Fashir city, the capital of North Darfur State.
